いささか取材対象に肩入れしすぎで白けるも、私のような門外漢には「SAPIXの授業」の臨場感が味わえたのは良かった。
ただ東大ブランドの揺らぎとか、受験勉強は人生に役立つ、といった価値判断が混じるとどうも頼りない。
「SAPIX」へ通学を考えている親御さんはせいぜい授業やテキストの使い方など大まかな雰囲気を参考にすれば十分だろう。
私は正直本書で挙がっているような伝統的超進学校に入ったら人生きつそうに思う。
麻布出身の宮台真司が書いていたが、ガリ勉は受験前に要領のいいリア充にことごとく追い抜かれるそうだ。
彼の自慢は鼻につくが、ほんとに勉強はさらっとで東大行く人を私も見てきた。
そいう人は多分受験勉強は人生の役に立たないと思っているはずだ。人は空虚さを意味で埋めようとするが。

間違いだらけの中学受験塾選びなどの著者によるSAPIXという受験塾の解説

　構成はとてもシンプルで、中学受験の実態と受験塾SAPIXの位置づけがあり
その後4教科（国語、算数、理科、社会）、低学年（2，3年生）の授業の取材と
総括がまとめてあります。
後半は、SAPIX卒業生の声、親の声と感想があり、最後に、著者によるまとめが
あります。急がしければ、最後の著者によるまとめだけでも、充分に価値が
あると思いました。

　少し差し引いて考えなければならないのは、この著者はSAPIX関連の書物が多く
他の受験塾についての著作が無いことです。　この点で、もしかしたら、SAPIXにかなり
傾注している可能性もあります。　後書きで著者自身の子供は公立中学、公立高校
に入れたもののSAPIXに出会って価値観が増えたと述べてある通り、健全な傾注の
仕方のような気がします。また、最後の章は、SAPIXを選ぶための親として考えなければ
ならない環境について述べていますのでとても参考になります。

これから中学受験を迎え、通塾先の検討と、なにより勉強が好きになるには
どのようにすれば良いかについて多くの示唆があるこの本はお薦めだと思います。

サピックスの授業について授業見学をした感想を１つ１つ丁寧に書いてくれているので
授業をイメージしやすいし、私自身も講師の身分だから参考になることがあった。

子供たちは学びたがっているのは当然だし、
負けたくないと思っているのも事実。

何より、先生方が子供に敬意を払って授業をしているという文が感動的でした。
これが本当ならすばらしい塾だと思います。
