帯によればテレビドラマ化されるとのこと。
確かにテレビ向け、悪く言えば台本を読まされている感じが否めなかった。
中村梅雀あたりがやれば見ようかという気もするが。
本自体は新幹線で読むにはちょうどいいかなと思います。
疲れず、さくっと読めますから。
テレビのサスペンス者が好きな人にはお薦めです。

田舎の村で起こる４つの事件を、駐在所勤務のお巡りさんが解決する連作短編集。

筆者自身が元警視庁警部補という方だけに、警察の描写がリアルなのは間違いない。
しかし、フィクションの世界においては、そのリアルさの上にどこまで虚構をバランスよく配せるか、が鍵を握る。

この作品はリアルさの側の比重が強すぎて、いま一つ派手な読書の楽しみには欠ける気がする。
まあ、舞台が舞台、主人公が主人公だけに、それも仕方がないかな。田舎の村で血湧き肉躍るような活劇が展開されるのはリアルじゃないし、ただの駐在さんがとてつもない名推理を展開し周囲を圧倒するのもリアルじゃないから。

それでも、推理物の基本はきっちりと抑えてあるし、無理がないので安心して読めるのは確かです。
サスペンスファンにはあまりオススメはしませんが、警察小説が好きな方はどうぞ。

駐在さんが地域に密着した視点から事件を解決に導いてゆく話である。
業務日誌を脚色して小説にしたような感じであり、読み終えた後の爽快感は無いが、それが逆にリアルである…と言えなくもない。
警察小説として読むには物足りないが、著者が元本職なので、駐在警察官の日々の業務についての参考資料が欲しい人にはうってつけかもしれない。
