この生真面目な作品は、推理小説ファンなら感動する。いい加減な推理小説の増産の中で光り輝いていた。著者がその後、執筆した作品３作は内田の品質がいかに高いかを証明している。その後の、内田はあっという間に、「浅見光彦」氏が主人公となる作品を続々と書きシリーズ化した。あちこちの出版社から彼の作品は出ている。読者は内田ワールドの中毒者になった。どこかに行こうかと思うとあらかじめ彼の書いた作品を読む。そして、ある先入観をもって旅に出る。すごいとしか言いようがない。こんなに、内田が自己の作品を上手に出版業界で広げ、内田ワールドを創出する才能を持っているとは予想もしなかった。どこにいっても内田の作品はある。旅に出るときは必ず、内田の作品を手元にもって、内田はどう感じたのかを知りたくなる。内田康夫中毒者は日本国に山ほどいるはずだ。これぞ、凄い行為である。前代未聞。
しかし、内田康夫の原点となるこの作品は、僕にとって内田と出会い、内田の生真面目な戦いを発見し、最高に評価することができる幸せをくれた。
内田ワールド中毒者必読書。
