久々に真ん中ストレートに刺さった本。
まだまだ進化する作家さんだと期待してるけど、現時点では
最高傑作だと思う。
被害者の父と、加害者の祖母(母代わり）、立場は真逆なのに
2人の辛さや悲しみがリンクしていました。
描写が秀逸で、登場人物や舞台となった地方都市が自分の中で
リアルに浮かび上がってくる。
追い詰められ、切羽詰った2人の逃避行はせつな過ぎて痛い。
わたしにとって特別な映画「モンスター」と通じるものがあります。
両作品とも、誰が「モンスター」で「悪人」なのか分からない、
もしかしたら誰もが「モンスター」であり「悪人」なのかも知れない･･･
と思わせるタイトルも含めて。　心をえぐられる本です。

　凄いな、この本は、、、。読み始めてひとときも中座する事なく一気に読了した。傑作である。恐らく今年世に出た小説群の中でも読む者の心を鷲掴みにするといった点では屈指の作品ではないか。本の帯にある“なぜ、事件は起きたのか？”“なぜ、ふたりは逃げ続けるのか？”“そして悪人とはいったい誰なのか？”とのフレーズが見事にこの作品を読み取るキーワードになっている。冒頭から、今作の登場人物たちのぐだぐだとした満たされない日常生活の中で湧き起こる儚い嘘と悪意の心理描写の上手さにぐっと引き込まれ、ある「悲劇」が起こった後は人間の深淵に潜む「業」の様なものを読んでいくのかと思いきや、物語は第３章で劇的に変貌する。変えたのは馬込光代の存在。彼女の登場で、物語は儚くも美しい純愛路線に大きく舵を取る。世の時流に乗る事などまるで諦めていた生きベタなふたり、生まれて初めて出逢った真に心を許せる者たちの、安っぽいラブホテルでのあまりに痛切な抱擁と逃避行の道行きでの魂の絶叫に、ページをめくりつつ胸が張り裂けそうになる。ラスト、なんとも切なくやるせない気持ちになりながらも、今作に登場する傷ついた者たちの絶望の「闇」の彼方に見える魂の救済を思わせる様な一筋の光明が救いと信じたい。

久しぶりに泣けた作品。
年齢を重ねたから感じる事なのか、登場人物皆がとても人間臭くていい。
登場人物皆悪人なのか、そうさせる環境で生きて来たのか・・・
綺麗事の多い小説の中で人間味のある人々の心にふと足を止めてみたい作品。
「生まれて初めて人の匂いがしたっていうか・・」と始まる少年の言葉が今の世の中に重なるような気がした。
