　松田道雄という医師がこの『育児書』を産み出してくれたことに感謝します。
　日本の育児の世界は変わったのです。
　松田道雄は戦後、京都に小さな診療所をかまえ、あえて看護婦（師）をおかず、じっと母と子どもの関係をみながら育児と病気の相談を受けていました。
　医療行為は最小限必用なことしかしませんでした。
　自然に治ってゆくのだ。その強い信念。
　ラジオの育児相談も担当しました。
　「日本の風土で定着している育児の仕方には意味がある」という民俗学的視点にたっていました。
　戦後、日本の庶民の子育て文化が全否定されていく風潮の中で松田は親たちに話しかけつづけた。安易に欧米流を良しとはしませんでした。
　『赤ちゃんの立場に立とう！』
　さらに保育所の保母さんとの集団保育の研究、ついには「自由保育」の提唱。　彼の子どもをみる目には日本社会の戦後の大変化がきちんととらえられている。
　さらにドイツ語、ロシア語、フランス語を解する語学の天才は20冊の世界中の小児科雑誌に目を通し、世界の小児科の最新情報を改版のたびごとに母親たちに伝えました。
　敗戦後の母親たちは、核家族化の中で子育てしなければならなかった。おばあちゃんがいたら教えてくれることを彼は大事にこの本の中に残しています。

　『母親をまず安心させること』

　この本は子どもの年齢に沿って少しずつ読むようになっている。
　さらに小児科医が説明しない「子どもの病気」について以前の本はわかりやすく伝えてくれていましたが、文庫本になって消されてしまいました。
　これは大問題です！！。岩波書店は一番大切なことをわすれてしまった。
　病気の説明を丁寧してくれる医者は少ない。松田はきちんと説明してくれたんですよ。
　医学への『信仰』、『病は専門家が解決してくれる』という立場に立たれたのですか。
　松田を侮辱しているとしかおもえません。
　戦前、日本結核予防協会の京都の診療所の初代所長は彼でした。彼の誇りを知りたいならば「子どもの病気」の結核の項目を読めばいい。
　「結核といわれたら誤診と思え」と言い切っています。文庫版では読めません。

　自由保育の味方。
　孤立した核家族の母親の味方。
　母親の心の安定剤。

　日本の保育への大きな贈り物です。私は「宝物」とおもっています。
　松田道雄以上の小児科医は２０世紀においては日本においては登場しませんでした。
　やっぱりこれは分厚い本で読んだ方がいい。
　わかりやすい言葉を慎重にえらびながら松田道雄は様々なことを私たちに教えてくれています。

定本 育児の百科〈中〉5ヵ月から1歳6ヵ月まで (岩波文庫)
現在２０歳・１６歳の子どもを育てるときに活用した育児書が「文庫本」で簡単に安価に手に入ります。
昔は大きな重いハードカバーの１冊だったものが、これは文庫で２冊になっているのでどこにでも持って行けて便利です。
この頃のお母さんは高価な「育児雑誌」が中心のようですが、「こうでなくてはいけない」と押し付ける育児・「これを揃えないと子どもがかわいそう」的な表現の物品を消費させる育児・・・雑誌育児書はそういう情報が得意です。
その点、この松田さんのオススメ育児は「これでも育つ」「これでもイケル」「これでもいいよ」「大丈夫」・・・こういう空気のする育児書で脅迫されることがありません。
子どもの育て方は色々ですから、この松田さんの育児書を【参考にして】育児を楽しむことをオススメします。
