この本は、「HTMLは知っているけど、XMLって何？」
と云う人を対象にして書かれております。
それ故に、抽象的な事は書かれていても具体的な
事は一切書かれておりません。
それがこの本を賛否両論の評価をせざるを得ない
傾向になっているのかと思います。

しかし、この本の評価すべきところはXMLの全体像
を理解し易いように読者に把握させている点です。
読んだ後、きっと「XMLでこんな事ができるんだぁ。」
と納得してXMLにますます興味が沸くに違いありません。
そして、次のステップ「具体的なXMLの学習」へ取り組む
場合には、「XMLがわかる本」で学んだ知識が役に立つでしょう。

タイトルどおり評価が難しい本です。
私はxmlはこれから勉強ですので、xmlを使ったらどういうことが
できるのか、というのが知りたくてこの本を買いました。
でも、解説があまりにも中途半端で、結局何が言いたいのか
わかりませんでした。例え話もわかるようなわからないような。。
もう1冊本を買わなくてはと思ってしまいました。

最初はとっつきにくいところも多いですが、同じく屋内氏のホームページと共に読んでいくうちにわかるようになりました。
入門書としてはお勧めはできませんが、ある程度 XMLに対して知識のある人が全体を把握するのにはよい本だと思います。
あくまで、技術書ではないのでもう一冊以上本を買う必要はあります。
