 『WARCRAFT 3』は、ファンタジーの世界を舞台に、ヒューマン、オーク、アンデッド、ナイト・エルフのいずれかを操って世界の支配権を争うリアルタイム3Dシミュレーションゲーム。プレイヤーは金や森林などの資源を採取し、これらを消費して部隊を組織するためのユニットや建物を作成し、組織した部隊を指揮しながら敵陣に攻め込んだり、自陣を防衛したりする。

   複数人とのネットワーク対戦に対応し、プレイヤー間での資源の交換なども行えるので戦略性の高いチームプレイが実現可能だ。本タイトルはその『WARCRAFT 3』拡張キットであり、種族の力を補完する能力を備えた新ヒーロー4体と、すべてのプレイヤーが使用できる中立のヒーロー5体を追加。さらに、各種族向けのアイテムを購入できるプレイヤー・ビルドショップや、アイテムとアビリティを供給する中立の建物なども加えられ、より高度で熱いプレイを満喫できるようになっている。

   このほか、1人でじっくりプレイするキャンペーンが新たに4本用意され、マップ作成や呪文設定ができるワールドエディターなども強化。『WARCRAFT 3』の世界をこれまで以上に楽しめる拡張パッケージとなっている。なお、本タイトルをプレイするには『WARCRAFT 3』本体が必要だ。（秋月昭彦）

このゲームに必要なのは、長時間の単純作業を経て手に入れたレアアイテムでも、コツコツ貯めた経験値でもありません。
　
このゲームに必要なのはプレイヤーの腕。卓越した技術だけです。
その点ではゲーセンの格闘ゲームに近いものがあると言えるでしょう。
しかしあなたが操作するのは一人のキャラクターではありません。
それは軍隊なのです。
この手のＲＴＳにありがちなトロさを廃した、スピーディなゲーム展開はアクション性を重視した作りになっています。
　
それはこのFrozen Throneになってからも変わりません。
韓国では賞金付きの大会が頻繁に開催され、有名プレイヤーはスポンサー契約の元、ＣＭ出演などもしています。
世界中を熱狂の渦に巻き込んだこのゲームを、ぜひあなたもプレイしてみてください。

WarCraft IIIの拡張パック。これ単体では動かないので本体を購入する必要がある。
４種族各３ヒーローだったのに加え、拡張でヒーローがそれぞれ１人づつ増える。
Battle.netの接続は無料。自動的に自分にあったレベルの相手を見つけて
対戦が出来る。１VS１から５VS５と多人数ネットワーク対戦も出来る。

ゲーム自体の完成度はDiabloシリーズを作っているBlizzardなので折り紙付きです。
