これは名作と言わざるを得ません。まずメッセージ性の強さに少しびっくりしました。サウンド的にも今までとは一味違う感じでなかにはとまどってしまう人もいるかもしれません。でもこれを聴けば彼女がただの商業主義ではないこと、歌を通して何かを伝えようとしてることがわかると思います。重い曲も何曲かあるもののクセになる１枚だと思います。

彼女のアルバムは全て所有していますが、今回は｢１３曲中シングルが５曲か…｣というのが気になっていました。
しかし実際聴いてみると多様なタイプの曲が収録されていながら、不思議と統一感があり納得です。

シングル以外の曲もよい出来で、｢日曜の朝｣｢Ｔｈｉｓ　Is Ｌｏｖｅ｣｢Ｍａｋｉｎｇ　Ｌｏｖｅ｣が特にすき。
｢ＢＬＵＥ｣のサビ部分の独創的で美しいメロディーはいかにも彼女らしいと思います。
今までのアルバムと比較して全体的にポップス寄りな感じですが、多彩で味わい深く聞き込む程によさが出そう。
私が普段音楽を聴く時は音・リズム重視派ですが、彼女の作品に関しては歌詞に集中して聴いてしまいます。
日常のちょっとした事や繊細な心の動きを鋭い感性でとらえている所に才能を感じますし
どこかせつなさがあるけれど、ただそれだけでないところも｢宇多田ヒカル｣の世界だと思います。

｢Ｕｌｔｒａ　Ｂｌｕｅ｣の意味が気になっていましたが、多くの曲の歌詞中に｢青｣が出てきますね。
１曲１曲のクオリティだけでなく、じっくり聴くとアルバムの展開がとてもよく出来ていて深い作品だと感じますし
試聴ではわからなかった良さが実感できるかと思います。

この人のアルバムは全部ききましたが、このアルバムには心底、撃ち抜かれました。
前回までのアルバムにも感じましたが、今回は特に「文学的」な匂いが強く、
言葉えらびのセンスの良さはもちろん、とても内省的で、心の一枚底にある深海のような世界をつくりあげることに成功してます。

実験的な楽曲が多いのも特徴ですが、それがちゃんと板についていて、実験作によくありがちな「カタ苦しさ」が全然ありません。新しい音楽でありながら、どこかしら伝統的な日本のメロディを感じさせるところもあり、不思議と「懐かしい」気持ちにさせられました。

前作「Deep River」も完成度が高かったですが、今作と比べると色あせて思えてしまうほど。

「前衛性」と「大衆性」とがここまでバランスのとれたアルバムをつくれる日本人は、もしかしたら現在、彼女しかいないかもしれません。
まさに天才。としか言いようが無い！
