『ANVIL』　スラッシュメタルを聞くのであればそのルーツの一つとして必ず名前が出るバンド。
自分も興味はあったんですがCD売ってないってことでスルーしてました。

たぶん映画見なかったら、このCDスルーしちゃったかもしれないです。
とあることで、映画見ました。
すぐにCD買いに行きましたよ。


メタルが好きなら、音楽が好きなら、映画必ず見て下さい。
そしたらこのCD絶対買いたくなります。
内容なんてこの一言で十分。

『メタル』です！！


ボーナストラックの「Metal On　Metal」は、メタルを愛する人間にとってのアンセムです。
大切にしたい曲です。

5.0 out of 5 stars 苦節30余年。鬼才ｸﾘｽ･ﾀﾝｶﾞﾘｰﾃﾞｨｽ擁して放つ会心作！！, 2009/10/31
　1984年、西武球場での伝説のロックイベント「スーパーロック’８４」出場バンドのうち、「唯一」ブレイクしなかったバンド、ＡＮＶＩＬ。彼らは生きていた。いや、生き続けていた！！

　出来栄えは、近作ではピカイチ。曲のクオリティー、サウンド・プロダクション、そして相変わらずのセンス・オブ・ユーモア。彼らは30年間何も変わっちゃいない。確かに目新しさは、無い。しかし裏を返せば、名作２ｎｄアルバム『METAL ON METAL』における「６６６」の高速さや「モスラ」のメタルらしからぬメロディー、「メタル・オン・メタル」の男気が、実は彼らが開拓したことに気づかされるのである！ラーズ・ウルリッヒやスコット・イアン、トム・アラヤらがリスペクトする、古くて新しいＡＮＶILサウンドが詰まった会心作です。
　日本盤には、初期の名作「ＭＥＴＡＬ　ＯＮ　ＭＥＴＡＬ」などのボーナス・トラック入り。入門者は日本盤がオススメです。

　Ｇ兼Ｖのリップスは給食センターの配送員で、Ｄのロブは建設作業員で、それぞれ食いぶちを繋ぎながら、バンドを30年間以上維持。本作を「勝負」と睨んだ彼らは、初期のプロデューサー、鬼才クリス・タンガリーディスに制作を依頼するも「200万円はかかる」。金の工面をリップスの姉が申し出て、目出たくリリースの運びとなった。とのエピソードは、アルバムのサブタイトルにもなっている、映画「ＡＮＶIL　〜夢を諦め切れない男たち〜」を参照。タイトルの意味が、アルバムの重みが、一層深まること請け合いです。
