In her own words, Lady Thatcher recounts her modest but solid upbringing, the afternoons she spent as a teenager arguing politics at the Grantham fish and chip shop, her first attempts at running for office, her courtship with and marriage to Denis Thatcher, and her appointment as Leader of the Opposition. Written with wit, intellect, and passion, this riveting memoir provides insight into the making of one of the most influential leaders of the 20th century.

Rich in anecdotes, and detailed accounts of what influenced what she strongly believes in, which itself defined Thatcherism and Britain during her term, and in many ways, after it as well. Tells about her family's life in their town, the events of the times and the people she met along the way, all of which influenced her.
Excellent in its structure--never verbose, but providing enough descriptive detail to form a picture in mind as one reads. The photos over the years are a delight as well.
The Iron Lady comes across as impressive, without being too intimidating (at least not as she comes across in purely-political settings).
