Well done slightly abridged rendition

This is a quality copy of the original BBC Radio program of The Hobbit, complete with fanciful music, a variety of actors playing the parts, and good sound effects. It draws you into Tolkien's delightful tale of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, as he and his accompanying group of dwarves (plus Gandalf of course!)encounter trolls, elves, giant spiders and the ferocious dragon Smaug and recover a treasure to boot! And it provides the (originally unintended by Tolkien) beginning of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, since here Bilbo comes across the One Ring and is nearly eaten by Gollum. All wonderfully rendered. Just one point to keep in mind. The recording is not absolutely literal, word-for-word to the book, alas. It condenses and skips sections here and there, but keeps very faithful to the story line. Enjoy! I did.

A wonderful listening experience

I highly recommend this BBC audio version of The Hobbit - the actors and the music are absolutely fantastic. It is a wonderful listening experience.

Excellent "BBC" English rendition

This is a wonderful faithful rendition of this, made for radio production.
It may be difficult for non British English speakers to listen to and understand easily because of the accents in which case a single reader Audio book might be preferred.
BUT you would miss out on this fantastic, at times immersive, experience.
Much better to buy the CD's, import to itunes. Some editing required in itunes of the track names I found, to get the tracks to play in sequence when I did this about 5 years ago.
Check on import what names and numbering have been ascribed to the tracks and edit if still necessary.
