Peter Jordan spent over 30 years running a world-renowned pub in rural Norfolk, England, where he devoted his time to collecting mushrooms and cooking them for his customers. He produced a video, The Collector's Guide To Wild Mushrooms, and spent as much time as possible researching mushrooms, writing about them and running his business "The Tasty Mushroom Partnership". Steven Wheeler is a highly original food writer who is well known for his expertise in the culinary arts and for developing deliciously innovative recipes. His hands-on training makes him much respected for his professional understanding of international cooking techniques.

I have been a mushroom hunter for many years and have taken courses on hunting edible mushrooms. This book does not have adequate descriptions of edible vs poisonous lookalikes. One could easily become dead, or at least deathly ill, if this book is your only source of information in the field. Also, it is mainly geared for European hunters. When I realized it was not for me I was thinking of giving it to Goodwill, but then thought it was too dangerous to be in the hands of a novice, so out it went in the garbage.
On the positive side, it does have some good recipes.

Agree - not a complete field guide so the title is pure puffery but I have yet to find one that lists the lot. But i found this added to my knowledge and was very useful even in australia as the pictures are many and detailed. Do your own research on the interwebs for each species and go with someone who knows! the recipes are very good - very very good even with store bought dried mushrooms.
