これこそがBOCの真骨頂! 知的で狂気を帯びた歌詞と、エアロやなんかの他のアメリカンハードとはまた異なるハードさ、疾走感、叙情、そして哀メロ美メロの嵐! 次作「タロットの呪い」以降はメロウな路線にやや方向転換してしまう彼らの、最もハードロックな作品。まあセカンドも同じくらいハードだけど(^o^;)、曲の面ではこっちが名曲ぞろいだし、コンセプトアルバムだしね… 「地獄の炎」〜「天文学」のつながり形は涙モノ!!あと、「ハーベスター・オブ・アイズ」〜「地獄の炎」のとこのオルゴールはとても切なくなる〜(T^T) 個人的には「メッサーシュミットME-262」がお気に入り。歌詞いい!ボーナストラックの「Born to be wild」も聞き所ですね!名カヴァーです。

ジャケからボートラまで死ぬほどカックイイです!70'sアメリカンハードのひねくれた超名盤!BOCを聞いたことない人やハードロックが好きな人はぜひ聴いてみて。

１９７４年作の３枚目。ＢＯＣはこの後のライブをはさんで、次作のスタジオ盤にて劇的な変化を遂げることになるが、本作は初期の集大成的な作品である。前２作と比べると、とにかく畳み掛けられるメロディが、悩ましくもせつなく実に美しい。この傾向は、メタリカも採り上げたＡＳＴＲＯＮＯＭＹにおいて顕著である。また楽曲にも良い意味で広がりが出てきた。このアルバムでは、１枚目の６０年代サイケ・アートロックを引きずった沈むようなヘヴィなサウンドや、２枚目のギターの執拗な波状攻撃はあまりなく、キーボードの効果的な導入も相俟って、早くも、じっくり聴かせる、知的な大人のハードロックを聴くことが出来る。構成も絶妙、プログレファンにもおすすめできる。この作品を気にいった人は、この後のツアーを収めたライブ盤ＯＮ　ＹＯＵＲ　ＦＥＥＴ　ＯＲ　ＯＮ　ＹＯＵＲ　ＫＮＥＥＳ　も是非聴いて欲しい。

まずジャケが、初の実用ジェット戦闘機Me２６２を(裏面にも）大きく配してあって最高。落ち着いた、力みのないハードさで、飽きないサウンド。ずっと後の作品にも再登場の曲も2曲くらいあったり、BOCの長いキャリアの中でも一つの大きな拠りどころとなってる作品でしょう。Me262ではジェットエンジン名のjunkers jumo004（BOC関係者のSETIチームの一つの名前にもなってた）がリフレインで登場、さらには同機装備のロケット弾のR4Mまで出てきて、マニアック。harvester of eyesは、(狙いは他の曲同様にミステリアス感なのでしょうが）自分的には、アメリカのロック・ポップスの中で一番笑える曲のひとつで、ナンセンス・ソングの一種として楽しんでます。
