著者について

George H. Fried (Brooklyn, NY) is a Professor of Biology at Brooklyn College. He received his A.B. from Brooklyn College, and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. His research interests have centered on metabolic aspects of comparative physiology and the enzymatic factors in genetic and experimental obesities. From 1983 to 1987 he served as chairperson of the Biology Department of Brooklyn College. He has taught courses in general biology and animal physiology and has developed a course in Biology and Society during a 30-year teaching career.

George J. Hademenos (Richardson, TX) is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of Dallas. He received his B.S. with a combined major of physics and chemistry from Angelo State University, his M.S. and Ph.D. in physics from the University of Texas at Dallas, and completed postdoctoral fellowships in nuclear medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and in radiological sciences/biomedical physics at UCLA Medical Center. His research interests have involved biophysical and biochemical mechanisms of disease processes, particularly cerebrovascular diseases and stroke.

I have had this book for over 6 months now, and I have to say why was I not informed that this book was in publish before I entered my senior year in college majoring in Biology and Chemistry. This book alone taught me more about subjects such as proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates that my entire first semester of Biochemistry did! Also the information is given as plain fact without all the "baggage" that traditional textbooks give you. I even used this book when tutoring a student in biology and how this aid was able to word the material was able to help him transition from a D student to a B student because of the quality of this material.

I got this to review an entire college career's worth of biology and study for the DAT. I have not gotten very far in this book, but it is a well-formatted bit of information. It's quite thorough as well, and if studied carefully, can provide a great review of an entire biology curriculum.

The book helps you learn certain processes but it is mainly focuses on the human body rather than all aspects of biology such as animal behavior etc.
