It must have been tough to capture 80 years of living into a slim volume of a bit less than two hundred pages, but Captain Bush has managed to do it, and do it well. I've heard it said that one can have "many years of experience" or one year of experience repeated many times. The author's life is very much the former.
This book is a captivating kaleidoscope of a journey, from humble beginnings in rural Berkshire to commanding the super yacht of the world's richest man, with stops along the way to live and work in half a dozen countries. While it may be true that a rolling stone gathers no moss, Captain Bush has gathered enough memorable experiences for a dozen men.
A Sailor on Horseback is fascinating summary of a life well-lived, and reading it is time well-spent. Recommended.
