レイブライアントの代表作です。有名な作品はそんなにない彼ですが、このアルバムだけは別格です。
超絶技巧でもなく、終始淡々とした演奏ですが味があって、何度聞いても飽きない演奏です。
私のお気に入りは１曲目のゴールデンイヤリング。これぞジャズ！といった渋い演奏です。

スタンダード曲が中心ですので、ジャズはあまり聴かない方の入門としてもおすすめですよ。

　素晴らしくスウィングするピアノ・トリオ・アルバム。
　オスカー・ピーターソンをちょっと謙虚にしたような、またはデューク・ジョーダンがほろ酔いで弾いたような、哀愁とエモーションが交錯する。
　有名な1曲目「ゴールデン・イヤリングズ」に、「エンジェル・アイズ」と、マイナー・キーが冒頭から2曲続き、アルバムの雰囲気を支配する。5曲目の「ジャンゴ」や6曲目もその流れ。間に挟まる自作曲も、程良い熱気と、趣味のよいくつろぎに満ちている。アドリブはメロディアスで心地よい。
　聞いたことのない名前のドラムがいい。いつも一緒に組んで歌伴をしていた人だという。ピアノを引き立てる。普通のジャズ・ドラムなんだけど、役所を心得た気持ちのいいドラム。
　音もいい。この1100円シリーズ、５枚買ったが、どれも音はよかった。ライナーは手抜きだが、正しい手の抜き方というか、肝心の音はどれもいい。

ノリノリ、上品で軽快で、楽しい。
ちょっぴり哀愁もあって、僕の愛聴盤。
軽くジャズでも聴きたいな、
と思う時にはうってつけだ。
