I bought this book because I wanted to get some fresh ideas for freehand, no-marking machine quilting, and this book delivered. I didn't have to wade through pages of info on how to make a quilt top, or how to baste a top to get it ready to quilt. It jumped right into a huge number of drawings of different designs used in standard quilt blocks. You could copy, enlarge, or reduce the designs if you absolutely must mark your quilt top, but they are meant to be done in a freehanded manner. I would consider this a book for those who are already well versed in machine or longarm quilting, as it doesn't give you step 1, step 2, and step 3 directions like some of the beginning machine quilting books do. So, if you are a beginner, wait awhile before you purchase this book.
