６才ぐらい？の男の子が、自分の様々な側面を動物に例えて語る本です。"I'm as small as an ant."の絵ではアリの大きさになってアリの群れの一員となり、次には"I'm as large as a whale."でクジラと同じ大きさになって大海原を泳いでいます。「子供の頃、こんなことを夢見たなあ」って懐かしい気持ちになりました。

とにかく、絵がすばらしくよいです！男の子の表情が実に豊かで、躍動感あふれ、元気いっぱいの様子や悲しい気持ちが見事に伝わって来ます。各ページにいる様々な生き物たちも、写実的かつよく特徴をとらえて描かれています。

エディターレビューにも書かれていますが、いろいろな相反する特徴が自分の中に存在することを、主人公の男の子は知っています。中には"sad"や"lazy"などのネガティブなものもあります。そして、それら全てをひっくるめて「自分だ！」と言うのです。子供にすばらしいメッセージを与えてくれる本だと思います。

絵の雰囲気は３才頃から楽しめると思います。文章も簡単なので、英語を文章で読み始めた子供によいでしょう。大人が見ても美しい絵なので、中学校から英語を始めた中学生にも、私はオススメしたいです。

なお、ボードブックだと、絵が縮小されていたりします。絵のパワーを充分満喫するには、ハードカバーがオススメです。（ペーパーバックは見たことがないので分かりませんが、きっとハードカバーと同じでは？）

It's a beautiful book. Very simple story. The girl is compering herself to different kinds of animals: "I am as quick as a cricket. I am as slow as a snail" etc. The pictures are wonderful. Not only kids but also parents will enjoy it!!!!!!!

先ず、絵がとても可愛くて、奇麗なので、２歳半になる息子はページをめくる度に、とても喜んでいます。私自身の英語教室でも実際に子供たちに読んであげています。動物や虫の名前を覚えるだけでなく、タイトルにあるようにＱｕｉｃｋ（速い）やその他たくさんの形容詞も一緒に覚えることができます。英語が得意でなくても、十分楽しめ、子供にとっても、また大人にとっても心安らぐ絵本です！
