I haven't seen the newer version, which apparently has a black lab puppy on the cover. If it is as good as the original(?) edition with the red cover and the brown Norfolk terrier, it will delight and fascinate toddlers and young, school-age children.
The photos of the Norfolk terrier were darling. Although the book I bought from my local library was a worn, used version, it was cherished by my niece, who couldn't wait to take it to preschool to share. She wanted it read to her every night for at least 2 weeks. Photos of the puppy learning to eat from a dish and yawning were priceless. The information in it was straightforward, factual, age-appropriate, and easy to understand.
The Amazon.com product description detail still refers to the Norfolk terrier breed. If the newer edition is about another or multiple breeds, then perhaps that desc. should be updated.
