『パンプキン・シザーズ』の第１０巻。
前巻まで独裁政治の哀れな最期と絡めてフランシア伍長の本当の真意に気づいたヴィッター少尉をドラマチックに描いた「カルッセル編」が完結した。そして今巻から、新章の幕開けです。

今回はオーランド伍長が故郷に帰る話。
彼の故郷がなんとあの荒廃した「０番地区」。そこでは共に育った家族が今もそこで苦労しながらも元気に生活していた。ここではつらさを感じさせない少年少女たち自分の事は自分でやるという精神と、生き生きした（というか楽しそうな）様子が印象的でした。そしてアリス少尉も現地に到着していた。
しかしその頃、西方諸国連盟の会議が近づき何としても自国の体裁を保つため、汚点である「０番地区」の掃討に乗り出すのであった。どうするオーランド！？

前回がオーランドの転換期だったらしく「少尉が無理しないように俺が先に助ける」
という前向きな誓いをした矢先、アリス少尉は「何がどうなれば戦災復興が完了なのか？」という問いにブチ当たったってしまう。これは本作のテーマでもあると思いますが、その答えを考えつつ伍長と少尉は０番地区の抗争をどう防ぐのかがとても気になります。もちろんそこに暮らす魅力的な「家族」がどう動くのかも楽しみです。

それと新章開幕ということで表紙もリニューアル！
ポップな色使いとすっきりとしてデザインがとてもカッコイイので気に入ってます。
で、表紙のかれらは何者か？それは読めばわかります！

理想と現実の狭間で苦しみながら戦う凄惨な伍長の姿は、
この巻では見られませんが、伍長の人間的な面をうまく掘り下げていて
この先がとても楽しみな展開になっていると思います。
話の引っ張り方も最初の頃と比べると、自然に流れるようになっていて
画力と表現力も格段に飛躍しています。
常人とは違う力を持ちながら、その力のせいで苦悩を繰り返してしまう。
しかしどこまでもひたむきで優しい…そんなタイプのキャラが好きな方には、
この作品はお勧めです。ぜひ全巻通して読んで欲しいと思います。

毎巻楽しみに読んでるのですが、この巻の作画にびっくり。
９巻までは多分正常だった筈ですが、いきなり表紙からしてアレ？と
思う出来ばえ。

アシさんが描いたとか、作者の方が怪我したとか何かあるんでしょうか？
単行本でしか追ってないのでその辺は解らないのですが…。

是非とも戦闘シーンが多く描かれそうな次巻までには
前までの安定した作画に戻って欲しいものです。
