I bought this book because I am interested in the role women have played throughout history and how the role has changed. This book is well organized and makes interesting points. I highly recommend.

A good collection of essays on recent digs and scholarship about these Women.
Also of interest is in one find, the Women were Weaving, when not servicing their clients.
This book includes a Glossary of the Greek Terms associated with this profession.
My primary interest was about the playing of the AULOS or Greek Reed Pipes by the
HETEIRAE for SYMPOSIA, etc. There was a Chapter on that subject as well.

I like this book because it deals with
Greek Prostitutes from the Ancient World.
However, I find that except from Delos in
Greece and Rome, the book ignores other
Greek Cities such Corinth, Thebes, Alexandria
in Egypt, Massalia in France, Syracuse in
Sicily, and Antioch in Syria.
