This book is unlike other books that discuss architecture because it combines the theory of architectural design, the history of architecture and philosophy. Its chapter "A Whirlwind tour of Traditional Architecture" is one of the best summaries of the history of classical architecture that I have ever read. Its chapter called "Pragmatism in a Nutshell" provides a concise summary of the philosophy of pragmatism. The book explains how various aspects of pragmatism are used by architects in the design process and in what they have to say about their architectural creations. It is interesting, informative and entertaining.
