著者自身の商品(主に服)と、世界的に評価される一流ブランドや、高級時計、玄人受けする最新の電化製品、本（主にノンフィクション）、CDなどを抱き合わせで雑誌に載せる。

そして、一見しただけでは広告とはわからないカタチをとり、あたかもそれら一流品と同じレベルにあるかのように‥‥。
または、そうした文化的背景を持つ、ミステリアスな人物＝藤原ヒロシ（著者は雑誌などで基本的に自身の経歴を書かない。）の推す商品としてPRする手法は、著者が約20年も昔から、ファッション誌等で得意としてきたやり方です。（代表的なものが、メンズノンノの連載「a little knowledge」）

この本に載せてある現在の著者の商品(Burton-Idiom、kangol、nike等）は、どれも製作をその道の一流ブランドが手掛けているため、他のブランドなどと並べても遜色ない物ばかりですが、この本もそういった著者のたくみな自己(商品)PRの延長にあるものとの印象を持ちました。

君達が追いついた瞬間！ヒロシはもう次の消費物を指さしてるよ！ひえーカタログを見てる段階で負け組！

高城剛のイビサ本を買った人はこれも買ってるそうです、、、（笑
情報社会って怖いですね。

基本、HF氏は気になる存在です。
アイテム紹介本を出すなら影響を受けた作品は掲載しても自身が携わった作品とか身内の作品は外してほしかった。これからリリースされる作品とかも宣伝と受け取れかねない。
知らないアイテムを知れる事に関しては嬉しいのですが、ここに紹介された現在入手困難な作品の多くの値段は高騰するでしょうし、入手可能な作品も密かに愛用している人にとっては入手が今以上に困難になって迷惑な話になってしまうとも考えられる。
個人的にはHF氏が所有しているお宝100アイテムってのも見てみたい。
