堅牢性、効率性、保守性を高める良い習慣について、実際のコードを使い説明されています。
正直、趣味でPerlをいじくっている程度の私にはやや難しい、というか、今まで使わなかった事なども乗っているため一冊を理解するのは程遠いですｗ
Perlが好きな諸兄姉は、初めてのPerl、続はじめてのPerl、プログラミングPerl、Perlクックブック等のPerl系の本とともに、読まれてみてはいかがでしょうか？
特に2章〜3章などはプログラミングは初心者プログラマーにお薦めです。（無論初心者以外の方にも）

Perlでコーディングする際のプラクティスが項目に分けてまとめられています。著者の長年の経験の積み重ねによって得られたプラクティスということで、勉強に部分も多いです。
特に、Perl 5.8以降でのプラクティスが多数まとめられているので5.003以前のバージョンから入った私には、「おぉ、そんな機能変更が！」と気づかされる点が多かったです（perldocを読んでいないだけですが）。これまでmapなどの反復リスト操作はforeachなどで済ましていたのですがmapの方が効率がいい、など日頃のコーディングの見直しが図れると思います。
ある程度Perlでコーディングしたことがある人におすすめ。参考書というより復習、発展学習といったところだと思います。
