Great Overview Of A Product Line With Great Potential

For those that remember this far back, the Pathfinder Gazetteer is very much like the Old Grey Boxed set of the original 1st edition Forgotten Realms setting. It gives a quick overview of many places within the Pathfinder campaign setting, enough to get a feel for the world and how the various nations interact.
It doesn't go into great detail in any one place, but it does cover a huge amount of territory, and introduces a wide range of deities for the setting and various lands for various campaign themes. Its great for a quick overview and some sound bites about the setting, and it doesn't seem like it gives away too many secrets that players running characters in the setting would have a problem with.
One problem, which isn't exactly with the product per se, is that the Campaign Setting book, which is much more detailed, is already available. However, this book is still a great resource for players that only need an overview of the setting, or even GMs that only want the bare minimum in a campaign setting and don't really want to get too invested in one, other than to have some context for their campaigns.

Invaluable player resource

Yes, as mentioned by other reviewers, with the release of the Campaign Guide, there are more in depth products available out there for someone who wants to know every tiny detail about Pathfinder's world of Golarion. On the other hand, I found this book to be an invaluable resource for my own Pathfinder campaign. Why? Well because it was the perfect introduction to hand to my players who were completely new to Pathfinder, and knew nothing about the setting. It provided them with an easily digestable overview of the world, and the unique flavor the various classes and races portrayed in Golarion. It was of great use during character creation,a nd it still works as a quick reference guide for both myself and my players. If your running a game with players unfamiliar withthe world, or if you are looking to start playing a pathfinder campaign (or at the Pathfinder Society public events)this book is a fantastic resource.

I did not have do read all the Gazeteer to be really disappointed. It is a short version of the Campaign Setting, even with some repeated texts, so it is useless if you already have the CS and bought the Gazeteer expecting for new content. The Pathfinder books from Paizo are great but this one is the worst I ever read.
It may be a good option if you want to know just a little about Golarion, with no high costs.
