クイリング超初心者です。英語は解りませんが(^_^.)、写真やイラストが多くクイリング用語（もともと英語）が解れば作品を作ることができる本です。表題にある通り初心者向けのテキストでしょうが、和書にはないテクニックも載っており役立つ内容で、価格的にも満足できるテキストだと思います。

A must have for all quillers!

In my opinion, this is an outstanding book! I highly recommend it to BOTH beginner quillers and expert quillers alike.
I first learned how to quill from Alli Bartkowski's (the author) quilling kits that she designs and sells on her website. I was impressed with the quality of her quilling kits. Her quilled designs are beautiful & intricate yet her directions are easy to follow, even for a beginner quiller!
When I got a copy of her book, PAPER QUILLING For The First Time, I was again extremely impressed!
The first part of the book includes a chapter on "Quilling Basics" which explains the tools & supplies necessary for quilling. It teaches how to make basic coils and gives rolling techniques. It has photos of different quilling tools and how to hold and use these tools. It has photos of what a coil should look like and what a coil should not look like, which is very helpful for a beginner quiller.
The second part of the book includes 14 Chapters, each teaching a different quilling technique. At the end of each chapter, the author includes a creative quilling project that uses that specific technique.
The third part of the book includes 8 quilling projects (1 in each chapter) that go beyond the basics, including: Christmas ornaments, a framed wedding invitation, floral letters, miniature figurines, etc...
What is most wonderful about this book are the hundreds of step-by-step photos that are included. They are absolutely necessary for learning quilling techniques well. The author's written directions are clear and simple to follow. The book gives you all of the basics, but does not leave you there. It also provides inspiring ideas for you to take quilling farther than you could ever imagine!
All of the projects in this book are beautiful, intricate, and creative! Once you make one of her projects, you're sure to get wonderful comments from friends and family! This book is definitely worth every penny!

Creative ideas which will thrill any beginner and intermediate quiller

The author has done an incredible job here in displaying and describing basic quilling techniques. Highlights include:
Section 1: Getting Started
The author covers all the tools, paper, and basic techniques. Perfect for homeschoolers, craft parties, family and church events. It's also a good book to use as an introduction for community classes because of the detailed photographs and instructions.
Section 2: Various Techniques from:
Flower cards, sunshine cards, scrolled border frames, mini rose gift tags, keepsake rose boxes, daisy cards, patriotic star frames, butterfly paperweights, woven baskets, candy cane ornaments, hummingbirds, buttercups, fruit bowls, and candleholders.
All are very creative ideas which can be used in various occassions.
Section 3: Beyond Basics section goes even further for special gifts such as:
Christmas ornaments, Christmas tags, wedding invitations, "love" frames, baby's feet, Noah's ark frame, quilled crosses, bride & groom cake topper, oriental bamboo night-light.
Section 4: Gallary of ideas.
Special thanks to the author in doing a fantastic job here and I would highly recommend the book for anyone who is learning, looking to expand their technique, or anyone who wants to share this art with others.

Quilling made simple

This book does an excellent job of introducing people to the art of quilling - also known as paper filigree. While the basics are simple, the art can progress in difficulty as skill increases. This book looks at a variety of techniques, teaching each through a project, and then looks at how to combine techniques to make your own designs. Illos are clear and helpful, instructions also clear and non-confusing. I've quilled before, and used other books, but this one holds the place of honor on my shelf.
