I don't like to give negative feedback, but I wish that I had had some sort of customer feedback before I bought this book.
Let me start out by saying that there are some beautiful flowers in this book. From what I can see, the author does a good job of presenting each flower with good photos and detailed instructions . However, I was looking forward to receiving this book and "digging right in" - but that isn't going to happen! The author states "when I began creating paper flowers, I used simple craft punches..." - but there is only one or two of the 40 flowers in this book that use "simple craft punches". Unless you want to shape the petals and leaves yourself, (for the most part) - you have to buy the punches. And these are not simple punches that the author says are available in your local craft supply store. (I live in a city of 120,000+, and the craft stores here might carry one or two of the smaller punches used) These are elaborate punches that you will probably have to order over the internet-unless you live in a big city that has alot more specialty stores. AND, the author does not give the name of the company that makes the punches OR list the craft sources in her book. Instead, she says to "visit us at www.larkbooks.com" - which I tried. She leads you to believe ordering the punches from this website is a breeze - but I got so frustrated trying to find any mention of them there, that I eventually gave up. I did find some "mega-punches" on another website that looked like some of the ones in her book, and they were $26.99 each. Just a bit beyond what I'm willing to pay for a single punch.
Another thing that bothered me about the book is that there is NO REFERENCE to the SIZE of the flowers. She uses terms like "mini, small, medium, large, super giant and mega" - but no actual sizes... I wanted to use these flowers for quilled invitations, but have no idea of the size - without first buying one of the specialty punches and trying it out!
If you want to make some pretty flowers, buy the book. But be prepared to spend a bunch of money on the punches - if you can find them!
