In the early 1980s, two junior doctors from Oxford noted down all the medical information they found valuable to keep. イギリスの医学部生は必ず持っていると言われる一冊です。日本の「イヤーノート」のようなものと思ってもらえればいいですが、イヤーノートに比べて情報や文字が圧縮されていて、臨床的な視点から内容が精選されています。大きさはケーシーのポケットに余裕を持って入れられるサイズです。ポリクリ前にパラパラ流し読みして大事なポイントをおさらいして臨めばだいたい先生はご満悦です。臨床家として知っておくべき心構え、手技などのまとめは読んでいてためになります。ちなみにこれを読むためにコンパクト電子辞書のセイコーインスツル IC DICTIONARY SR-A10001M ステッドマン医学大辞典改訂第6版 医学書院 医学大辞典第2版 治療薬マニュアル2008準拠[電子辞書版]収録 音声・シルカ・カードレッド対応 医学コンパクト限定モデルも買いました。そちらもぜひ。

洋書にしては目次や小見出しがしっかりしている分、圧迫感はさほどありません。
小さい文字がぎっしりつまっているわりには、フルカラーで図表もそこそこ入っているので読みやすいです。
Flexiboundというのはよく辞書に使われているようなビニールっぽい質感の表紙のこと。
ペーパーバックではないので、耐久性も評価できます。
厚さでいうとイヤーノートの1/3くらいなので、いずれベッドサイドに連れ出したいです。
マイナーが載ってる姉妹本の Oxford Handbook of Clinical Specialties (Oxford Handbooks Series) もおすすめ。

2010年に8th editionになったので持ち運び用に買ってみました。基本的には見開き左に本文、右に資料（pictures,tip,コメントなど）の形式をとっています（そうでないページも）。膨大な分野にまたがる診療の基本事項、特異点、あるいはエッセンスが記載されています。疾病の典型的な写真や図表が掲載されているので、分野の違う（度忘れしたときの）基本事項の確認に便利です。三色のしおりが付いていてこれも便利。片手でぺらぺらめくることが出来るほどコンパクトにもかかわらず、興味深い教養のある話も鏤められているのでつい持ち歩いて読んで楽しい内容に仕上がっています。
なんといってもPocket Medicine より安くてヴォリュームがあり、得した気分です（ris)。pictureが豊富。index は四列で30ページ以上ありますからよく出来ていると言っていいでしょう。全体は２０chapters からなり、chapter 13以降にはSurgery, Epidemiology, Clinical chemistry, Eponymous syndromes, Radiology, Reference intervals, Practical procedures, Emergencies と充実しています。特にinfectous diseases とepidemiology が別になっていていいです。効き紙にIndex to emergency topics があります。遊びにReading testsのためにサイズを変えた文字と絵があります。裏表紙側効き紙と遊びにCPR、さらにめくるとuseful doses があります。本文は、chapterの最初のページがcontentsになっています。本文の内容はOUPのホームページに出ているのでこちらをどうぞ：
