Written and recorded in various locations, No Line On The Horizon is the group's 12 studio album and is their first release since the mega-million selling How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, released in 2004. the album calls on the production talents of long time collaborators Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois with additional production by Steve Lillywhite. 11 tracks including the first single 'Get On Your Boots'.

The band’s 12th studio album calls on the production talents of long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Danny Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite. The album will be available in 5 different packages.

This version is the standard album CD in a plastic jewel case w /24 page color booklet.

普通にThe Joshua Treeを超えた。発売日に手に入れて毎日欠かさず聞いているが、これほど深みのあるアルバムは久しぶりだ。名曲と呼ばれる曲が入ってないと駄作なんですか?
むしろこのアルバムは全てが名曲ではないでしょうか。
昔のような力強さが無いとか意見が聞かれますが、昔の路線で行かないところがU2の良いところなのではないでしょうか?
本作を聞いて新しい発見や感動が得られなかったU2ファンは本当のファンではない。
彼らがじっくりと試行錯誤を重ねて作った作品をもっと味わってほしいです。

永らく、個人的にはU2の最高傑作は「The Joshua Tree 」だと考えていた。
その考えも「No Line on the Hrizon」を聴いて、そろそろ改めないといけないような気になってきた。
エッジの荘厳とも言えるギター旋律、ボノの独特かつ感情溢れるヴォーカルと、U2の良さを全て凝縮した作品に仕上がっている。この荒涼としたモノトーンなジャケットとは、相反する優しさと温かみを含んだメッセージが込められている。久しぶりにU2サウンドが戻ってきたと、嬉しくも安心して楽しむことが出来た。
「No Line on the Hrizon」は、U2のベストに近い作品であると言っても過言ではないだろう。

第一印象は
「最悪だった先行シングルGet On Your Bootsが唯一のヒット狙いの曲。ジャケットどおり地味なアルバム。ヒットは難しそう」
「”マカレナ”やイエス、ジャーニーっぽいイントロもある」
「バックが控えめなこともありボノのソロアルバムっぽくもある」
U2らしいギターがk聴けないのは残念。
そういう意味でU2っぽさが希薄でボノのソロアルバムか？という印象だった。

ただ、ボノがゲストで他のアーティストとデュエットしても、U2っぽく聞こえてしまうほどボノ自身がU2である現実
および、U2っぽいサウンドが控えめだったアルバムは過去にもあった(Zooropa）ので、珍しいことではない。

このアルバムと真逆で、様々なエフェクトで作りこまれているため一見　共通点がなさそうだが、Zooropa的なアルバムと感じるようになってきた。
Being Born　は Zooropaにそっくり。

　　　Zooropa：ヨーロッパ <---> No lines；中近東

・マカレナ風イントロ
・レバノンのタイトルチューン
・このアルバム”アーーーアー”と叫ぶフレーズが多いが、中近東の歌にありがち

zooropaはヨーロッパを表現するためにありとあらゆるエフェクトを駆使し
No linesでは、中近東を表現するためにこのサウンドになったように思える。

控えめなサウンド　と　”アーーーアー”が中近東なのかどうかはわからないが、、、

聴けば聴くほど気に入ってきたアルバム。

いろいろなタイプのアルバムがあるので、最高傑作とはいわないが、
zooropaよりいい曲も満載で、これもあり。
ボノが意欲的にいろいろな歌い方を試みてる限りU2も安泰だ。
ヒットしなくても◎
