日本のロックシーンに燦然と輝く、佐野元春の名盤。
８０年代初期に、こんな格好いいサウンド！　２０年以上前の作品とは思えない瑞々しさが溢れています。佐野元春を聴いたことがない方には、ぜひとも聴いていただきたい名作です。

リアル･タイムで聴いた方へ…ご存知ですか？

これは９２年９月１日にリマスターされており、音が良くなった以外に違う箇所があります。あの“ＳＯＭＥＤＡＹ”のイントロの車の音が消えているんです。リマスター前のＣＤにも、リマスター後のオリジナルアルバムにも入っているのに、おそらく違うのはこれだけじゃないでしょうか？そういう意味で、もう一つの“ＳＯＭＥＤＡＹ”に出会えます。

このアルバムは発売当初、いきなりオリコン１位で、確か５週くらい１位だった気がします。元春絶頂期のアルバムです。ベスト的なアルバムではありますが、当時は「グットバイ~」が新曲として、「ソーヤング」は山下久美子に書き下ろしたものを元春が再録音して、「スターダストキッズ」「バイバイ~」はＢ面収録を日の目に浴びさせたアルバムです。元春はこのアルバムを日本のファンにおいて、ニューヨークへ行き、ビジターズを完成させました。
エネルギッシュな２０歳代の佐野元春が聞けます。私は２０年間聞いております。レコードとＣＤで。

アーティストによる、アーティストの意向をくんだベスト盤は珍しい。多くが制作側の企画で作られる。それも何のコンセプトもなく、単なるシングル・コレクションとして。それに対して本作は、佐野元春が一区切りをつけた際に制作された初期ベスト盤である。本作に対して、敢えて述べればアナログ発売時にサイドA、Bで通した聴いたように2枚組にして、アナログのサイド構成を再現して頂きたかった。しかし今だ各々の曲の輝きは失われておらず、まさしくNO DAMAGE状態である。
