I bought this book, "A New Twist on Strips 'n Curves," at a local fabric store but feel that, while interesting, it's not a book that stands on its own; you absolutely need the first book. If this was a computer game, it'd be an expansion pack. The foundation ideas are not, in my opinion, well-explained at all. Many of the paragraphs basically say, "Look at the quilt on page X and figure it out yourself." Well, I'm not an advanced quilter and need more instructions to recreate a project. The quilts shown are indeed beautiful, but more and better directions would have been helpful. If you love the author's first "Strips 'n Curves" book, I think you'd like this one, and I hope I will "see the light" myself once I get the first book, which I have indeed ordered.
EDIT: I have now bought and read the first "Strips 'n Curves" book, which is awesome! Basics such as choosing colors, cutting strip sets, etc. are well-explained. If I could only have one of these two books, it would definitely be the first one, and I stand by my first impression that the second book does not stand well on its own, and in fact I really don't think it adds that much to the strips 'n curves repertoire.
