タイトルにあるChinese Zodiacとは、十二支のこと。
今年の干支を金銀の用紙で折ってみたくて手に取ったが、他の作例も、なかなか良くできている。さすがはステゴザウルスなど恐竜の作品で高名なジョン･モントロールの作品集だ。
「ケルベロス」の三つの首を織り出す手順は、なるほどと感心させられるし、「ユニコーン」もシンプルで形の決まりやすい（それでいてユニコーン以外の何ものでもない）造形である。
辰や午も、良い紙で折って飾ってみようと思う。

This book is an amazing assortment of creative origami models, but it is most definitely NOT for a novice of origami. I've been folding paper for more than 2 decades now, and have found a few models in this book really challenging. Like most instructions in books by Montroll, there are some steps which appear vague, but once you crack the mystery, then you'll understand that there really isn't any better way for the diagrams to be done. The models in this book are a bit more advanced than in Animal Origami by Montroll, and fairly comparable to many of the designs in "the Complete Book of Origami" by Lang.
If you are an intermediate level artist, this book is sure to present some frustrations, but offers so much more satisfaction in the long run.

Great Intermediate Diagrams

I've been folding for most of my life, but mostly just simple models from memory. This book was one of the ones I picked up in an effort to advance my origami skills and get better at reading diagrams. Overall, it's been a great book for an intermediate folder. My only nitpicks are minor. One is that I don't like the look of the wings on some of the mythical creatures, such as the griffin and the three headed dragon. The other is that a lot of the quadrupeds are from the same base, so folding from this book can get monotonous. This isn't really a flaw, but it means I tend to go back and forth between this book and another to change it up. Overall, this book has great designs nad very readable diagrams. I've only had any real issues with the monkey, and that's far from the most complex diagram in the book.

I love the book. Super easy to follow and perfect images! Fun and easy, super neat folds and creatures! Can not wait to try them all.
