MURDER @ WORK reminded me of a good old-fashioned mystery story.
The story takes place in new South Africa. Christine is very frustrated working in her place of employment. Her boss is nasty and mean. She is looking forward to a vacation in Greece with her husband and going to a math convention to present a paper, because her love is math.
Her boss revokes her time off and then dies. Christine needs to find the murderer so she won't have to miss her vacation.
The story was good but does not contain a lot of action; however, it's still fun trying to solve the mystery and put together the clues before Christine does.
Overall, the book is a good one, but I don't know that it will necessarily appeal to a majority of teens.

Loved the topic (of course) - and its very readable - I'm not sure how to explain that - as I am a musician and not a writer - its not the complexity or content that make something unreadable to me, just the style of writing. I find that most writers are what I would call "bad writers" that spend a lot of time describing things and tip toeing around the story - you're a good writer!

A murder mystery with a fresh setting. Pretoria, 1996, just two years after a new constitution and everyone is nervous about the future. When the male chauvinist boss is bumped off with a lethal dose of fennel oil, just about everyone in the office is a likely suspect. Picture the game "Clue"--South African style. Walus does a great job of characterization and plot building. If you're looking for a mystery with some fun twists, this one is for you.
