A box of fun for kids in the car

As a big fan of Virginia Lee Burton, I was intrigued with this travel/activity kit. It comes with a small paper back version of the story, "Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel." It's just the right size for a child's smaller hands. The kit also includes 3 double sided crayons, very cute, for a total of 6 colors to use in the 24 page activity book. The activities are appropriate for children who can read or over 4 with help from someone. There are four standard size postcards and two sheets of stickers featuring artwork from the book. Also included is an audio CD with Mike Mulligan as well as two other stories, Katy and the Big Snow and Maybelle the Cable Car. It all comes conveniently packaged in a cardboard suitcase with a carrying handle. I was very pleased with this product. It is really quite fun, at least from my mom/grandma point of view. I got it with my granddaughter in mind, but will probably save the activity book and stickers for at least another year as she is only three. The CD may find it's way into a player sooner, however, and the book will be broken in before then, too. All in all, a good investment.
