I was very happy with this purchase. I did a lot of research before buying. Be sure you know what you're ordering before you order one - the pictures on Amazon may be a bit off, or not show all the details. I suggest going to Moleskine's ([...]) website and find the book you want first, whether it be a sketchbook, journal, calendar, or address book. Their site has full size pictures of the book from a variety of angles, closed and opened. This will also provide you with the ISBN for that particular one. THEN come back to Amazon, search for that ISBN and you'll know exactly what you are getting.
This particular address book is a hardcover of the lighter caliber. Not a softcover, but not your mother's Webster's Dictionary hardcover either; somewhere in between. Contains a nice vertical view of every day of the week, with Saturday and Sunday sharing one column on the far right. The elastic band is very sturdy and feels as though it will withstand years of use. The paper is thicker than your normal every day printer/copier paper, but not as thick as sketching paper. My fountain pen can cause some bleed through but not enough for me to dislike it. The paper itself is a creamy beige color.
The calendar part of it will show you holidays - everyone's holidays. A symbol at the top of the day indicates a public holiday, while a 2 character code informs you what country is observing that holiday. It will not tell you what that holiday is. The folding pocket in the back cover that houses the accompanying mini address book is a nice touch as well.
