I've used a lot of pocket notebooks in my life, but could never stomach plunking down the money for a Moleskine. At the urging of several friends that swear by the product, I opted to make the plunge and see if it was worth it. I'm not yet convinced that it was.
Don't get me wrong, this Moleskine is a fantastic product; it has a good soft cover that's bendable, the pages seem sufficiently thick (I could manage some bleed through with a Pilot G2, but I had to really try to make it happen), the pocket in back expands to let you store quite a bit, plut it has a band to hold it closed and a bookmark. The quality seems high, although I haven't been using it for years or months yet.
I'll probably not make it a reoccurring purchase simply based on the price and amount that I use them (a ton). If you want a classic, yet simple looking notebook for odds and ends, then I promise you that you could do a LOT worse. If you're on a budget, you can probably do quite a bit better!
Band to hold book shut
A little costly
For those looking for a pen suggestion: I use it with a Fisher Space Bullet Space Pen - Matte Black, Gift Boxed (400B), and they work beautifully together.
