The German Fallschirmjger were elite soldiers, a factor that continues to ensure their popular appeal today, particularly among modellers. There are many Fallschirmjger figures on the market, in plastic, metal and resin, and in all three of the most popular scales - 1/35, 1/32 (54mm), and 1/15 or 1/16 (120mm). Manufacturers currently produce figures related to every major campaign they were involved in. This is the first book to address the subject of German paratroopers for the figure modeller. All the major items of Fallschirmjger uniform and equipment are covered, with an emphasis on specially designed paratrooper items. Jaume Ortiz Forns was born in 1969. He built model tanks and planes for several years, before switching to figure modelling. He specialises in World War II German Army figures, with a particular interest in painting camouflage uniforms, and vignette design and composition. He has won several awards in various key European modelling shows. Jaume combines modelling with his job as a stage-lighting designer for theatrical shows. He lives in Barcelona, Spain.
Daniel Alfonsea Romero lives in Barcelona with his wife Teresa and their daughter, Laura. He tried his hand at various modelling disciplines until finally settling with figure modelling. His current work focuses on conversions and original sculpting, plus scene composition. Daniel is an officer in Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalunya's Autonomous Police Force: he is currently assigned to the Traffic Division, specialising in accident investigation. The author lives in Barcelona, Spain.

Painting model figures is an art unto itself, and Forns is certainly a master. He shares his process and blends of paint to create very realistic and lifelike figures. I would have liked more information on the technical side - the actual brush strokes or physical application methods. For instance, he talks of painting the eyes, but what are the tricks to get them so perfect. How do you hold the brush, which brush do you use, etc.... I realize practice will solve some of these issues, I just would have liked more information on the technical application of paint to achieve Forns's superb results. The photos are excellent, and it is obvious the author is a master. Generally a good book, it just needs a bit more technical detail.
