First let me say I read this book in a few hours I could not put it down and then just this morning I recommended it to a woman that I met at the bookstore.
I have to say I agree with the first reviewer about the title of this book they could have done better its totally misleading and the only reason I initially brought it is because I tend to purchase all 8 books in the Harlequin Presents series and hope for the best that my money hasn't went completely down the toilet; although I have to disagree with the comment about the cover art for harlequin this is an improvement over the recycling over covers that they have been doing recently in the past year or so, I was starting to think that the art department over there had gone through budget cuts, but I digress the book itself was great I enjoyed that Sharni was the kind of character that a reader could relate to, she was older than the typical harlequin heroine (30 years old) and had some experience in male/female relationships. She wasn't your typical "Harlequin weeping of the vine-virgin". And Adrian the hero complemented her strong-brook no nonsense yet still possessing that soft romantic feminine characteristics that I think some harlequin authors struggle to find a mix of either they go totally overboard with the nave-innocent heroine or the "I am woman her me roar" characters. Adrian was gorgeous and of course and had alpha-male written all over him but it wasn't to the degree that you hated him or just thought he was over hearing with it, and even when he wanted to be all rich-man he-manish Sharni had the kind of personality that could put the breaks on it without hurting his male pride.
The interaction between Sharni and Adrian is sizzling you find yourself getting sucked into the story from the first few pages, although the back synopsis of the book throws you off and you keep trying to figure out the connection between Adrian and Sharni's dead husband and once you think you figured it out the author throws a wrench in the works, I absolutely loved it! Ms. Lee really gave good character development I never once felt she rushed or dragged the plot between these two. It was the perfect balance of believable/unbelievable happenings although in this day and age anything is possible. The book was an over all success on Miranda Lee's part good character and plot development. I recommend this as a good Sunday afternoon or rainy day read to make you feel all warm inside.
