The memorix books are well-established as the definitive pocket references in medicine. "Memorix Surgery" now extends this range, and provides medical students, junior hospital doctors, and trainee surgeons, with a compendium of essential practical information. It includes sections on suture techniques, TNM classification of tumours, management of multiple trauma, the acute abdomen, and the differential diagnosis of gastrointestinal bleeding. Besides describing the routine fundamentals of general surgery, the specialities of paediatric, cardiothoracic, vascular, plastic and neurosurgery are all covered. "Memorix Surgery" provides a memory prop throughout the whole period of surgical training, including the extended knowledge necessary for postgraduate instruction.
In my opinion the idea of a short memorix for surgical practice is a good one. To my disappointment the facts and figures in the memorix do not cover practical needs at all. It is just a collection of short data reproduced out of text books. Shame, because the idea is good.
