Marvel Adventures Iron Man: Heart of Steel collects the first four issues of the Iron Man story written for an all-ages audience. In my (not-a-parent) opinion, it's appropriate for children who are old enough to read by themselves and whose parents know that comics contain things like violence (in this case: fire, explosion, weapons, and robots rampaging through New York). (There is also one instance of a character using the phrase 'shut up' -- which was a bad word in my house when I was growing up, but your mileage may vary.)
In this book, we have the Iron Man origin story, a battle with the Mandarin, the introduction of Plantman (a Stan Lee creation from 1963), and a run-in with Justin Hammer. Pepper Potts and Rhodey play nice supporting roles, as always giving Tony Stark someone to play off of -- and their interactions with each other are fun to read, too.
I like everything I've read of the Marvel Adventures series so far. The stories don't get lost in the doom and gloom that seems to have become a staple of both Marvel and DC over the last several years, and they are fast, refreshing reads. So, yes. This book? I recommend it.
