This is more than a book, it documents at the highest professional standards an era and age wherein Canada and Britain stood together. A compelling read that I could not put down, it is much less a war book, and much more a recounting of a period fast disappearing from common knowledge.
For those like myself, whose father trained in England and would never discuss the war (Ortona, Scheldt, N. Africa, after being in the brig when his regiment left for HK...) it fills in so much for me. As scholarship it is measured and restrained; as entertainment it was heart warming and inspirational. The events of those two generations became my own.
A work that will stand for all time around this fateful period in our combined histories as nations.
