この本はMagic Tree House #3 "Mummies in the Morning"のリサーチガイドという位置付けで、この本を先に読んでおくと、MTH#3はスムーズに読めます。
しかし、この本は単独でも非常に面白くためになります。

前半は古代エジプト文明の詳細な説明です。人々の生活ぶりや文化が紹介され、信仰していた神々がズラリと並んでいるページもあります。後半がミイラとピラミッドの話です。専門的な用語もそれなりに出てきますが、難しい語については必ずその意味が説明されているので、たとえ訳語がわからなくても、どんどん読み進めることができると思います。

１巻２巻は本編を読んでからリサーチガイドを読みましたが、今回は↓の方のレビューを見習ってミイラやピラミッドなどの知識がほとんど無いのでリサーチガイドを読んでから本編を読んでみました。リサーチガイドがあるものは先にガイドを読んでからのほうがより本編が楽しめるってことが今回わかりました！！

小学校で、歴史の授業を受けているような気持ちになった。
わくわくしながら、楽しく読めました。
挿絵がたくさんあるので、辞書がなくても分らない単語は想像できました。

ナイル川は古代エジプトの人々に、
水、食物、豊かな土壌をもたらし、偉大な文明が発達していった。

古代エジプトの人々が、現代では理解できないような、

動物を崇拝していたり、
死んだ後の次ぎの世界についての考え方が覗えてとても為になった。

５０００年も前のミステリアな部分を想像したり、
研究したりする事の楽しさを改めて学べた。
