What more could you ask for when you already have a beautiful fiancé, a good job, and a close knit family? Not much else, but for Albert Diggs when the company he works for asks him to go to their Miami office to try to save it, he sees a way to make a mark that will benefit him later on in his career. In order to save money, it was agreed upon that Albert would live with his mother's father, Joseph "Pops" Thomas. This arrangement leads to the humorous characters in Live, Laugh, and Love the Golden Moments of Life by Michael J. Lore.
Along with being in a city, which he was not familiar with, Albert goes into a failing office to try and save it. Not knowing why the clients were leaving as fast as they could get new accounts to replace the old ones, Albert speaks with the people who would know best, the location manager and the other workers in the Miami office. Reading the customer surveys points Albert in the direction of poor customer service. After doing an updated training to the different department supervisors, Albert expects to see a turnaround, but some force within is working against him. It was up to him to find the source of his plight, and solve it as best he could. Pops, being a man with great wisdom, always told Albert to stay calm and use his anger as a fuel to get to the bottom of things. He should not to believe what seems to be the obvious, it is not always right.
The office drama was not the only excitement Lore offered in Live, Laugh, and Love the Golden Moments of Life. There is the alcoholic and drug addict who would do just about anything for a few dollars. The cousin, who does not want to pay child support, but looking for the next pretty lady wearing a dress, and many other unforgettable characters. The downfall was the constant usage of wrong words, along with a few other annoying errors. However, I still recommend Lore's book because of the good laugh you will experience due to the personalities of the characters.

I laughed till I cried. Michael has a lot of comedy in him and he knows how to let it flow out. Lord knows he should be writing for TV. It's been two weeks since I finished the book and I'm still laughing out loud.

Albert Diggs has all his cards in order: fianceé, good job, and nice house. Just when he thinks things are going his way, his job throws a wrench in his plans by asking him to transfer to Miami for a year to fix some problems in another division. Although he doesn't want to go, he realizes that this is an excellent opportunity to get the promotion he's been waiting for.
Albert contemplates the move, but dreads telling the news to his fianceé, especially since their wedding was already rescheduled once before. While having dinner with his parents, he brings up the new opportunity. Before the evening is over, Albert is definitely relocating, has a rescheduled wedding date and a place to stay, rent-free. Upon arriving in Miami, Albert realizes this new environment holds more than an opportunity for promotion, and he gets a chance to know a side of his grandfather that he never knew.
Micheal J. Lore does a great job with this storyline. Although fresh, true-to-life and hilariously funny, a major flaw in this manuscript was the constant presence of typographical, stylistic and grammatical errors. It's in dire need of an editor. His characters were down-to-earth, familiar and reminiscent of folks we all have flowing throughout our families. From the non child-support paying cousin, to the crazy aunt, you won't be disappointed. One thing I can say is the novel still proved to be a good, down-home laugh. When this manuscript is edited, what a difference it will make. (RAW Rating: 2.5)
