1990年から96年までのライブ音源をほぼ時系列に沿って並べた内容で、Nirvanaのそれと違い"編纂"の意図は感じられず、ライブでたどるAlice in Chainsといったところか？*90年収録の[1][2]以外のBassはすべてMike Inez。

[2]の"Queen of the Rodeo"はボックスセット以外のアルバムじゃ聞けない初期の曲で(ちょっぴりガンズ風？^_^')、[9]の"Dirt"は93年10月24日名古屋での音源(在住の方はミソカツ食いながら聞いてください)。

んで、音が悪いとの劣評もあるが、内向的との印象が先走ったこのバンドにはむしろ最適。
オーバーダブはなく、各パートの分離も良好なので、コピーしたい音楽家にもいいだろう。
そしてなによりも生々しく荒々しいこの出音！！
否定性に真っ向から対峙し生き抜いた意志が、明確なまでに顕われており、この強度は音楽というジャンルには決して留まらない。

このアルバムを聴くまで、俺は暫くアリスから離れていた…。
先祖帰りして、BLACK SABBATHに当日ハマっていて、「結局アリスもサバスのパクりだったんじゃん…。」と言う認識に変わっていた頃にこのアルバムが出た。

このアルバムを試聴したその瞬間に、俺は何故あんなにも、そしてこんなにも、Alice in Chainsと言うバンドに魅せられるのかと言うことを思い出し理解した…。
確かに、音楽的にはサバスをかなり周到した方向性だとは思うのだけれど、アリスはもはや、ただパクりとかそんな次元のバンドでは無いのだと思った…。
やはり、少なくとも俺にとっては、レインのヴォーカルにおうところが大きい…。
それだけでまったく別物だと感じた…。

しかし、ライブ盤でこんなに醒めたアルバムも類を見ないと思う。
その曲の年代によっては、レインのヴォーカルは限りなく生気が失われている。
しかし、それゆえに素晴らしい…。
そんな一枚。

こんなアルバムを創れるアーティストは過去も未来もアリスだけだろう…。

最後に…、
レインの安らかなる眠りを祈ってやみません…。

　「Dirt」の爆発的な音圧と、レイン・ステイリーのヴォーカルにやられてしまい購入しました。音はまずまずなのですが、ヴォーカルが少し虚ろというか、疲れているような印象が感じられます。楽曲自体は満点ですが、そこを引いて星は４つにしました。
