   チック・コリア＆リターン・トゥ・フォーエヴァーの第1作は、カメモのジャケットでおなじみの人気盤。本作はそれと同じ72年にロンドンで録音したセカンド作。話題満載のデビュー作の陰に隠れ、本作はやや地味な印象を受けるかもしれないけれど、内容的には見劣りしない。というか、フローラ・プリムのヴォーカルを大々的にフィーチャーしていることもあって、こちらのほうがよりポップで親しみやすい。ジョー・ファレル、スタンリー・クラーク、アイアート・モレイラ、フローラ・プリムを擁するオリジナル・メンバーによる録音はデビュー作と本作の2枚だけで、これら2作は姉妹作といっていい。リターン・トゥ・フォーエヴァーはその後、ギターを加えたロック寄りのエレクトリック路線へと突き進むことになるが、これら初期の2作ではスタート時ならではのヒューマンなユートピア・サウンドを楽しめる。チックの曲作りのうまさも際立っていて、特に「アランフェス協奏曲」をイントロに用いた<6>は最大の人気曲、もちろん本作の目玉曲だ。（市川正二）

Featuring the same band as the first Return to Forever album--vocalist Flora Purim, saxophonist-flutist Joe Farrell, bassist Stanley Clarke, and drummer Airto-- 1973's Light As a Feather was the result of a conscious effort on Chick Corea's part to communicate with a broader audience. Although Corea's electric piano and Purim's spacey-samba vocals might sound dated, the album includes a couple of Corea's most beloved compositions, "500 Miles High" and "Spain." Subsequent Return to Forever albums turned to conceptual bombast and silly fantasies. Here, Corea strikes an appealing balance between art and accessibility. --Rick Mitchell

いや、確かにかもめが飛ぶ１枚目もほりゃいいけど、飛んでったあとに羽根を残してお騒がせいただいたこのアルバムは、秀逸です。１枚目とカップリングで２枚ぐみでもよかった。とにかく、なかでも、スペイン、これはジャズナンバーの５本の指に入る名曲ですわよ。

チックコリア＆RTFでおなじみの作品です。3曲の歌もののラテンテイストが聴き心地がよいです。
6曲目のスペインは、最近お茶のCMでおなじみになりましたね。
