An interesting book. The author has obviously put a good amount of time into this tome. I did like the listing of the appropriate Canadian court cases. He also has added some interesting make specific service bulletins. A few of his estimations are somewhat dubious, I think. He does shed a good deal of light on the acceleration problems that Toyota had that have now mysteriously disappeared into the history books. I am also very dubious of his "valuations". I know in my area of the USA used car prices are now at historic highs. From what I have read this phenomenon seems to be true across the USA. I would love to find some good examples of the cars he recommends at the prices he lists. I can not. I also take issue with his estimation of the merits/demerits of alternative fuel or hybrid vehicles. He seems to be quick to discredit the purchase of said vehicles for what he perceives to be "tried and true" old school internal combustion gasoline vehicles. I also find it hard to believe that someone could find reliable examples of some of the 20 year old cars he recommends. Maybe in the Southern USA, but here in MI those cars have long since rusted away. I would suspect that would probably be the case in Canada, too. Overall an interesting book. Well written. May be useful to those with some of the egregious make specific problems he highlights. Me, not so much. Still have my rusty old Mazda that does not appear to be covered under any type of repair program.
