Bathroom escapades aside, there's no denying that George Michael has been responsible for some of the biggest party jams of the '80s and '90s. Have you ever noticed what happens to a room when "Faith" erupts from the speakers? Aside from the funk-fueled "Fastlove," the material from his most recent album, Older, is well and truly overshadowed here by the megahits from days gone by. The first disc starts off slow, with "Careless Whisper" and his remake of "I Can't Make You Love Me" the only real high points among otherwise bland ballads. It's disc 2 that exudes the essence of Michael, with "Fastlove," "Too Funky," and "Freedom 90" providing a nonstop dance-athon, and "I Want Your Sex" and "Faith" picking up the slack. The package also includes his rather unexciting (but hugely popular) duets with Queen and Elton John, his perfect pop pairing with Aretha Franklin, and two new tracks. 僕は今までジョージ・マイケルというミュージシャンは知っていましたが、
興味がなく、ほとんど楽曲を聴いたことがありませんでした。
僕がジョージ・マイケルに興味を持ったのは、クイーンのフレディ・マーキュリーの追悼コンサートでの
「Somebody to Love」の熱唱を聴き、ジョージ・マイケルに興味を持ちこのＣＤを手にしました。
１曲目の「ジーザス・トゥ・ア・チャイルド」から、ジョージの歌声に酔わされます。
１枚目のＣＤには、しっとりとした歌が多くジョージの歌声が満喫できます。
２枚目のＣＤには、「ファストラヴ」「モンキー」などアップテンポな曲が並んでいます。
そして最後に僕をジョージと出会わせてくれたフレディ追悼コンサートでの「Somebody to Love（LIVE）」がボーナス・トラックとして収められています。
それにしても、素晴らしい才能とセンスです。
なぜもっと早くに、ジョージに興味を持たなかったのかと自分を責めたくなります。
いろいろと私生活が話題になるジョージ・マイケルですが、そのゴシップネタを見て笑っているそこの人！一度このＣＤを聴いてみなさい！きっと、ジョージのスゴさに驚くでしょう。

これは輸入版で格安なのですが、日本版に入っている「アズ」が無いのが残念ですが、ジョージの魅力は堪能できます。「outside」「fastlove」のリズム、私は特に「Freedom90」のゴスベル的コーラスとリズムのすばらしさに感動です。アレサフランクリンとの「I knew you were waiting」、「ケアレスウィスパー」「キッシング ア フール」他、たくさんの全米・英１位が収録されており、ジョージの集大成であります。ジョージマイケルに興味のある人にお勧めです。

As plainly reviewed above, the twenty-eight songs in this double-CD--divided into the slow ("For The Heart") and the fast ("For The Feet")--are testimony to the talents of the singer.
Made even more impressive by the fact that he writes his own songs. Failing to check out the lyrics would make you miss out on more than half what makes George Michael fun.
This from the man who was willing to put off releasing records, to make his point in his battle with Sony, his old label which would not set him free him from the contract, which he claimed stifled his creativity. And when finally breaking free, exacted his vengeance with the devastatingly-eloquent Listen Without Prejudice . . . and has chartered only higher levels of excellence since. This from the man whose releases are often as good as "best hits" albums. He who pulls off every collaboration, from Queen to Aretha Franklin, never mind Elton John. And as if this is not enough, lives a rather colourful life, too.
From the songs about his desire to grow from a pop idol to a serious musician, to his sexuality (bet you didn't know at first either: "Fast Love"), to his social commentary, he has a rarely-rivalled incisiveness, which makes for his eloquence. And when paired with music that moves the heart as well as the feet, what more can one ask for.
