アルバムタイトルの｢ライフ｣について小沢健二はこんなことを話していた。

『法律用語でライフ契約というのがあって。(中略)ライフっていうのを生命や人生とかじゃなくて、存続=あり続けるっていうのがかっこよくて、おお!って思って。在り続ける期間がライフだっていうのが凄くかっこよくて。やっぱライフって言葉凄いなあ、存続と訳しちゃうとさらにカッコイイ、なんて思って。』

このアルバムには何度も｢続く｣という言葉が出てくる。

『続いてくのさデイズ』(ラブリー)

『たぶんこのまま素敵な日々がずっと続くんだよ』(ドアをノックするのは誰だ？)

『そして毎日はつづいてく』(ぼくらが旅に出る理由)

etc...

また、｢続く｣と｢過ぎる｣というのは言葉こめられた感情はずいぶん違っていても現象としては同じことのように思う。

『過ぎていく日々を、踏みしめて僕らは行く』(いちょう並木のセレナーデ)

キャラバンが熱力学的に進んでいくように、毎日は、日々は美しく、無慈悲に、進んでいく。
あっけからんとした無敵の幸福感と老人のような達観した視線。

『とてもとてもきれいな世界』(おやすみなさい、子猫ちゃん！)

続くことの歓びと、過ぎることの悲しみ、そして何より、それら自体が驚異的に美しいことであると謳う、最高の作品。

私はこのアルバム、10年以上聞き続けています。
楽しいとき、寂しいとき、いろんな場面で私の傍にあった言葉と音楽。
初めて聞いた印象と今まで変わらない自然で無理のない言葉と音楽。
すごく不思議なアルバムです。
オザケンさんは今はお話などを作っているようですが
自分の好きなことだけを好きなようにやっている今のスタイルの原点にもなっているんじゃないかと
私は勝手におもいます。

小沢健二さん、最近あまりみかけなくて
残念。CUTEな笑顔に正直な人柄...。
生意気とも言われますが　素直な方だと思います。

この作品は　明るく元気な曲調のものが
多く聴きやすいながら、歌詞が深くて考えさせられます。
恋する気持ちや　忘れたくない一瞬を表した詩e.t.c...
こういう表現が思いつくということが
やっぱり天才、と思ってしまいます。
そう感じても言葉でうまく表現するのは　難しい！
何度も共感しながら聞いた思い出の名アルバムです。
