In this volume, everyone's talking about Sawako's friends, Yano and Yoshida. They say that Yano dated a ton of guys in middle school and that Yoshida is a Yankee. And the source of these rumors? Sawako! Or so everyone says. Yano and Yoshida don't believe it at first, but then they overhear Sawako saying that they're not her friends. Meanwhile, Sawako gets the idea that Yano and Yoshida are unhappy because their association with her is damaging their reputations. She tries to stay away from them, but it's harder to go back to the way things were than she expected. How will this mess ever be resolved?
I liked this volume, but I did get a little bit frustrated with it. It's one of those where the whole thing could be resolved if the characters would just talk to each other. Interestingly, though, this is point of the whole volume. The confusion was a little bit unrealistic, but, eh, I still enjoyed it. The end was a little cliched, complete with a showdown in the girls' bathroom. But at least this part shows us that Sawako does, indeed, have a spine. And it's nice that this manga focuses on Sawako's friendships as well as her romantic interest. Shojo manga tend to overlook these relationships.
This is a good volume overall. It's a little frustrating and cliched, but it's got plenty of heart. It's cute and funny, and the art is still wonderful. It's impossible not to love this warm little manga.
