Combining good taste and audacity is a subtle art that interior designer Jacques Grange has perfected for over four decades. As a young man working for design legends Henri Samuel and then Didier Aaron, his talent was soon recognized by the likes of the Rothschilds, Madeleine Castaing, and the Vicomtesse de Noailles. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Grange is known for being able to disappear behind his designs; he believes an interior dcor should serve as a "self-portrait" of the occupant and not the designer. His prestigious commissions in New York, Paris, London, Venice, and Marrakech blend Oriental and North African influences with Western styles, from rococo opulence to modern chic. But, remarkably, Grange is not afraid to strip everything away, and to make space itself the main focus of a room. Always balancing virtuoso flourishes with tasteful understatement, Grange’s touch is unique.

Pierre Passebon owns and directs the Galerie Mark-Sales and Design Boutique in New York, and an exclusive interior design boutique and showroom for decorative arts and fine art exhibitions in Paris. He published a monograph on Alexandre Noll. Jacques Grange was named one of the world’s topmost influential designers by Time magazine ("The Design 100" issue, April 13, 2008). His recent designs include the Mark Hotel and luxury condominiums on Madison Avenue, the New York showroom for Paloma Picasso Accessories, and numerous exhibitions and private residences for Yves Saint Laurent.

One of the Best Design Books Out There

Jacque showed his verstility as a designer by displaying some progressively modern interiors as well as comfortable classical interiors and then even almost a Jacque Garcia style classical apartment. The photo quality is also amazing and so is the writing. This is a must buy for any design enthusiast or interior designer. Oh, by the way if you like extremely gorgeous higly classical French interiors then the book on Jacque Garcia far surpasses the rest.
